It’s been many weeks since I’ve posted on LittleChuteMatters.  I just wanted all of you to know that I’ve run into some difficulties with how the website works and I’m fixing the problems.  The problems all relate to the info-center.  The problems are partly technical in nature, partly a question of how to organize the website and partly a matter of adapting my old writing habits to reflect suggestions that friends of LittleChuteMatters have made over the past few months.

The original design of the info-center was central to how LittleChuteMatters works.  It turns out that the old info-center lacked the flexibility to change and grow quickly and easily, even though it was supposed to be exceedingly flexible.  The underlying technology allows this flexibility, but when I put the info-center together earlier this year I took some shortcuts that locked me into old ways of doing things.  When I tried to make the changes I wanted several months ago, I found out that it was much harder than I expected (or should have been).

The short and the long of this is that trying to make changes to the info-center while keeping up with Village events hasn’t worked.  So, this last week I’ve decided to stop using the info-center for the time being and only work on the blog.  This will make the blog articles longer (you may start seeing “More…” links to expand the blog items), and will restrict the supporting material I can put on LittleChuteMatters for the time being.  I’ll continue making changes to the info-center in the background, and switch back to full use of the info-center when all the work is completed.

Just wanted you to know.

Michael
